My latest article is available at the Columbus Republic, the newspaper of record for Columbus, Indiana. I’ve featured this atypically design-focused small city only one time in my blogging history—many, many years ago—so it was no small privilege when AIM Media asked me to cover a major revitalization initiative for the city typically rated : the Columbus Riverfront will improve safety, connectivity, and aesthetics and a high-profile site where downtown’s Mill Race Park meets the East Fork White River.

The initiative, branded Our River…Our Riverfront, should finish this fall, after about a year of construction. The largest goal is of the Columbus Riverfront improvement is the elimination of an obsolete low head dam, improving safety for river recreation and fish passage. But the undertaking will also upgrade the aesthetics of the area and connectivity among the local multi-user trails. The results of my research and expert interviews for the Columbus Riverfront are now available in the 2026 Bartholomew County Guidebook, released courtesy of the Republic.
